About
Katy is a Level 3 Forest School Leader and an approved practitioner with The Therapeutic Forest. She is also a qualified outdoor first aider.

Over 30 years, Katy has gained a wide range of professional experience whilst working in a variety of roles. Some of these include working with young adults in a secure unit and with children with learning and physical difficulties in a residential unit and within their own homes. Katy has supported children and young people with life limiting conditions and acquired brain injuries.

For the last 20 years, Katy has worked in a primary school as a Family Learning Mentor and Senior Family Support Worker where she also leads Forest School sessions and forest nurture groups. The theme of all her sessions revolves around mental health and wellbeing, confidence building, resilience and having fun.

From an early age, Katy has been passionate about nature and the outdoors.
As a child, she struggled through school, longing to be outside.
As an adult, she recognises the strong links between time spent in green spaces and our overall wellbeing.
When she is not at work, Katy is usually outside, maintaining the beautiful woodland where she is based. Katy spends lots of time walking and swimming in the Lake District with her black Labrador Willow.

Mission
Katy's Forest has been created to enable more children to access and experience the many amazing benefits of Forest School sessions and to bring back the joy of playing out, exploring, building dens, climbing trees and being immersed in nature - free from the constraints of school work, social media, screens and other childhood pressures.
Katy's Forest creates memories that will last a lifetime.
Aims
Katy's Forest aims to provide a fun, empowering environment where children can explore and grow into their best selves. Through engaging in creative outdoor activities, they will build unique memories, develop a positive mindset and spark their natural creativity and problem-solving abilities. We aim to nurture essential life skills, such as emotional intelligence, resilience and the ability to support others, fostering a sense of community and empowering each child to embrace their uniqueness and potential. This all takes place in a beautiful calming woodland environment surrounded by nature and an abundance of wildlife, giving children opportunities to connect with nature and each other.
